Short-term and project-based consultancy for organisations working on climate, water, and community resilience in Pakistan and South Asia.
"The gap between a well-designed climate programme and one that actually works in Sindh is almost always a question of local knowledge — of the river, the communities, the politics, and the land."
I offer organisations working in Pakistan's climate and development space access to that knowledge: grounded in years of fieldwork, land management, and policy practice in Sindh, combined with the analytical frameworks of an MPP from the University of Essex.
What I offer
In-depth analysis of Pakistan's climate governance frameworks, water policy, and disaster management architecture — with a specific focus on Sindh, the Indus basin, and the equity dimensions of climate policy as it affects riverine and floodplain communities.
Design, review, and improvement of climate adaptation and resilience programmes for implementation in Sindh and Pakistan. Particular strength in identifying the gaps between programme theory and ground-level reality — before implementation, not after.
On-the-ground research in Sindh's riverine communities, agricultural zones, and delta areas. Community interviews, local stakeholder engagement, and rapid assessments for organisations that need someone who can actually get to the field and communicate what they find.
Translating technical climate and development content for non-specialist audiences — donors, media, government partners. Writing that is accurate, clear, and reads like it was written by someone who understands what they're describing.
Specialist advisory on Indus water politics, the 1991 Water Accord, IRSA dynamics, and the downstream implications of upstream water management decisions on Sindh's communities. Relevant to any organisation working on water, agriculture, or climate in the basin.
For organisations entering Sindh or expanding their Pakistan portfolio — a structured briefing on the political, social, ecological, and cultural context. Saves months of orientation time and prevents the most common programme design mistakes made by organisations unfamiliar with the province.

Areas of specialist expertise
Process
A 30-minute call to understand your organisation's needs, the scope of the work, and whether I am the right person for it. No charge, no obligation.
A clear written proposal: what I will deliver, by when, at what cost. No ambiguous retainers — specific deliverables with clear timelines.
I do the work myself. No subcontracting, no junior researchers presenting as senior advice. You get my knowledge, not a team I am managing.
Delivery against the agreed scope, with a brief follow-up conversation to address questions and ensure the work is actually useful to you.
Availability
I take a limited number of consultancy engagements alongside my full-time role at Climate Action Center Karachi. I prioritise work that is directly relevant to Sindh, water governance, and climate resilience — and where my specific knowledge creates genuine value rather than substituting for expertise the organisation could build internally.
Typical engagements: 2–8 weeks. Longer-term advisory arrangements considered on a case-by-case basis.
Rates
Day rates and project fees are discussed directly and vary based on the nature of the work, the commissioning organisation, and whether the engagement is with an international donor, an INGO, a domestic NGO, or an academic institution.
I am committed to making my expertise accessible to well-intentioned Pakistani civil society organisations with limited budgets. International donors and INGOs are charged at standard international consultancy rates.
Send me a brief description of what you're working on and what kind of support you need. I respond to all serious enquiries within 48 hours.
